Farrah Olivia

Hello! Just a few weeks ago, the SWEETs stumbled upon DC Restaurant Week. After much deliberation, the group decided to experience a restaurant in Crystal City called Farrah Olivia. The interesting thing about Farrah Olivia is that it is a restaurant within a restaurant. Originally located in Old Town Alexandria, Farrah Olivia moved to a special room in the center of Crystal City's Kora Restaurant. As the waiter described to us, Farrah Olivia is under the same management and Chef as Kora, except that the chef had prepared a special menu for the inside restaurant.

We each ordered a 3 course prixe fixe meal (on a special menu for restaurant week). The butternut squash tortelloni appetizer was pretty "bomb" but the quantity was almost too much as an appetizer. The special gorgonzola salad that some of us ordered was presented as a work of art!

After the appetizers we all got our main courses! There were a few options, but it seemed like everyone either had the chicken or steak (so American of us, huh?). The chicken was served with mac and cheese that was laced with bacon (also surprising for this "classy" restaurant). The chicken was a little tough, though moist on the inside, and the sauce it was served with was very good. Here's the chicken:

The interesting side dish for the steak was alligator peppers? Whaaa?

And on to the dessert. The chocolate brownie was awesome with special ice cream and "special" powder on the side.....

It seems like forever ago since we went to Farrah Olivia, but we all had a good time (as usual) so I can't wait for our next adventure! That should be coming up pretty soon I think.......

Stay sweet :)
